چکیده

This paper discusses the use of wave based prediction methods for the analysis of steady-state interior acoustic problems. Conventional element based prediction methods, such as the Finite Element Method (FEM), are commonly used, but are restricted to low-frequency applications. The Wave Based Method (WBM) is an alternative deterministic technique which is based on the indirect Trefftz approach. The WBM is computationally very efficient, allowing the analysis of problems at higher frequencies. The efficiency of the WBM is most pronounced for problems of moderate geometrical complexity. A hybrid finite element-wave based method combines the strengths of the two methods, namely, the high computational efficiency of the WBM and the ability of the FEM to model problems of arbitrary geometrical complexity. Numerical validation examples show the enhanced computational efficiency of the WBM for problems of moderate geometrical complexity and of the hybrid method for real-life engineering problems.

The Acoustic Diffusion Model for Single and Coupled Interior Volumes Using the Boundary Element Method

Recently, a new model for the propagation of sound in interior volumes known as the acoustic diffusion model has been explored as an alternative method for acoustic predictions and analysis. The model uses statistical methods standard in high frequency room acoustics to compute a spatial distribution of acoustic energy over time as a diffusion process. For volumes coupled through a structural p...

Fdtd/k-dwm Simulation of 3d Room Acoustics on General Purpose Graphics Hardware Using Compute Unified Device Architecture (cuda)

Computer-based modelling is becoming standard practice in modern room acoustics. Its applications range from prediction of design parameters, visualization of sound propagation and auralisation [1]. Traditional architectural acoustic modelling methods, such as Ray-Tracing [2] and Image-Source models [3], draw on geometrical assumptions and therefore may be confidently applied only to an explici...

Exact analytical approach for free longitudinal vibration of nanorods based on nonlocal elasticity theory from wave standpoint

In this paper, free longitudinal vibration of nanorods is investigated from the wave viewpoint. The Eringen’s nonlocal elasticity theory is used for nanorods modelling. Wave propagation in a medium has a similar formulation as vibrations and thus,  it can be used to describe the vibration behavior. Boundaries reflect the propagating waves after incident. Firstly, the governing quation of nanoro...
